Its an interesting tale, but seriously, what can we do apart from tell him to report it.
and I dont really have sympathy for people who have their accounts hacked, there are basic and simple things that people can do to prevent it. there are warnings and signs everywhere, if people chose to ignore it, then they dont deserve any sympathy.
In any case, if it was such a concern why doesnt the person in question make a post rather than one of his officers... or is this an officers duty nowadays? xD

that is MINIMUM security to protect your account.

Heh, do you scan for keyloggers every time you log on to Guild Wars? If I played daily, I'd rather have my account jacked than take the time to do that every day
Seriously though, sorry to hear about your guildie. It totally sucks that there are people out there waiting for opportunities to do this kind of crap. Maybe for a follow-up, the guys who did it will make a run down to the local arcade to steal some dirt bikes from 10 year olds....

Buy a UPS (optional) and leave your computer on all night. Set your daily purge for 3:00 AM or something. Problem solved.

Can't quite remember asking you to "do" anything.

What duties doesn't an Officer have? Ours get involved, we/they help, guide, counsel and perform whatever other task is required or requested.

not every day, every time ii log in to the game which may be 2-6 times a day.
it only takes about 5-7 minutes while i look ovet this site.
when i am through here i will delete anything found and log in.
just for fun about a week ago i picked up a password theft goodie targeted at ncsoft games (lineage ii in this case)
nasty enough that the pc had to be rebooted and run the delete program before windows could start to get it

You'd better believe that if my "friend" did that to me, I'd be opening a huge can of whoop @$$! And if I couldn't do it, I'd hire someone who could! Just kidding... or am I? o_O Does his friend have a GW account then? If so, why is his account not banned? If you like, I'm in touch with the Korean Mafia... but don't tell anyone, lol. :P

in this situation... the first thing id do is NOT change my password and i mean that...
FIRST thing to do is contact anet
SECOND scane your computer for viruses and spyware
THIRD change your password
and in light of this situation... i didnt catch that any of the characters were delete so at the least the hijacker wasn't a complete ass and strip the characters, storage then delete everything
NEXT time if there is a next time... dont stand around and watch call for support imediatel providing all of your friends character names if you know them and provide as much information to support as you posibly can as being 3rd party...
other games i have played have been able to at the least "suspend" threatened account IMMEDIATELY until the issue is investagated...
this is something that the comunity in such games have appreciated from support...
me personally would be willing to have my account suspended at any time to make sure it is in controlled by the correct owner...
